Topics of Study for Grade 3

Nine-Week Period Beginning: November

Parents,

The following topics are being introduced to your child during the next grading period. This list is for your information; you may wish to discuss some of the topics with your child as they are being presented in class. In addition, other material may be covered as time allows.

Please review for the SOL’s. There are several good links to websites on the Arrowhead home page!!

Language Arts:

Unit 2 (end) (main idea/supporting details, homophones, singular/plural nouns, singular/plural possessive nouns, common/proper nouns)
Unit 3 (all) (steps in order, steps in a process, multiple-meaning words, retellings, summarizing, antonyms, text structure, homonyms, visualizing, generalizing, verbs)
Unit 4 (all) (multiple meaning words, setting, cause/effect, following directions, compare/contrast, predicting, contractions, adjectives)

Math:

Unit 4 (Multiplication and Division)
Unit 5 (Place Value in Whole Numbers and Decimals)
Unit 6 (Geometry)

Social Studies:
