Period Beginning:
January 29, 2008
Parents,
The following topics are being introduced to your
child during the next grading period. This list is for your information;
you may wish to discuss some of the topics with your child as they
are being presented in class. In addition, other material may be
covered as time allows.
Language
Arts:
- Continue identifying story elements- identifying main idea and supporting details of a selection; cause and effect; using graphic organizers to generate ideas for writing; editing; writing a fairy tale or folktale with a beginning, middle, and end; writing a paragraph using correct form; using correct punctuation in writing; capitalizing proper nouns; using past, present and future tense in writing; using ‘s for possessives; using a comma to separate things in a series, date and year; and using comparative and superlative forms of adjectives. In addition, we will be learning to form cursive letters and beginning the transition from manuscript to cursive.

- Unit 6-Whole-Number Operations and Number Stories
